The History of Date Spots Utah

Utah has a history of its own and like all other cities, venues will be opened and closed, some after many years and others after a few years. There are some distinct venues that many residents hoped would have stayed open, but unfortunately, they are gone. Where the Rainbow Randevu and the Terrace Ballroom was located is now a parking lot. The buildings were demolished in the 80s. However, before that, the building hosted several hundred patrons and all kinds of musical acts that took place in the 60s and 70s. Some of those acts were Iron Butterfly, Led Zeppelin Grateful Dead, Janis Joplin and Jefferson Airplane; just to name a few. The Terrace Ballroom was a great place to go to a Salt Lake City concert. The venue was also equipped with a dance floor and dining area with tables. This was not the only musical venue because the historical Salt Palace arena was where many concerts were held. In the latter part of the 60s and 70s, the Dirt Palace was a popular music venue as well. The Roxy was a well-known punk rock scene in the 70s. When U2 made its first tour in the United States in 1980, they were spotted at an old Abbey's Road venue. At that time, of course, U2 had not gotten its worldwide fame yet. In the past, Salt Lake City was known for its vibrant dance club scene in the 80s and 90s. Club Xenon was one of the most popular date spots, remembered for its long lines of patrons wanting to go in. In fact, people would wait in line for hours such that the owners had to create two or three lines at a time and more staff to facilitate the crowd. The reason for the crowd could be that the club did not sell alcohol nor did they allow smoking. Most of the patrons went there to dance the night away. Other similar places were The Bay, The Broadway and Front Page. Later on, the location at Club Xenon became a pharmacy store and many of the others met similar fates. It was difficult to make money without selling alcohol, which could be why these clubs closed their doors. The Date Spots Utah offers are known for their excitement and vibrancy.
