Minneapolis is known as the twin cities. Surrounded by the Mississippi and
Minnesota rivers, in so many ways it is one of the most cultural cities with
the best night life in the state. You would never think of it though, but you
should. When you think of the perfect place to meet someone or the perfect place
to go enjoy the nightlife and have a great
date, Think of Minneapolis.
In 1887, the first bar in Minneapolis opened its doors to the public. With an
elk head on the wall and a variety of drinks, they have managed to stay operational
until the present day. The best part about Minneapolis is that, when it comes to the
homegrown All American bars, they tend to last. Everyone wants to go where they
know your name.
Before F. Scott Fitzgerald moved away to Paris, he called
Minneapolis his home. Along with his wife Zelda, they always knew how
to throw a party or go to one. So, you know that if they were around a party was on its
way. Fun fact, he wrote This Side Of Paradise while living here.
Prince made his mark on Minneapolis and basically put this city on the
map with his amazing music and stylish outfits. They have even organized a tour of his
life and the effects he had on Minneapolis. You can see where he lived and
recorded, where he played his sets, what bars and clubs he went to. He is
the reason why Minneapolis has the "Minneapolis Sound" which is a
smooth mixture hybrid of R&B, rock, pop, funk and new wave. A sound you can't find
anywhere else. A sound for Prince himself.
One unique thing to Minneapolis is that they understand that just because you
can't drink, doesn't mean you can't go out a party. They have 18+ clubs for the kids who
are old enough to vote, but not old enough to drink. Making their lives a bit more fun.
While the nightlife here isn't as big as New York or Los Angeles, Minneapolis
has an amazing community feel to it. They support each other. In 2011, almost 40% of the
population dedicated a fraction of their time to volunteering.
